Story Time: HOW I LEARNT TO SWIM😊
By David West

Some interesting happenings and events of my life and my experiences growing up, You can call it ” True life stroy”😅.
This story is about how I learnt to swim…
I still recall vividly how as a child I was thrown into the river by my father, as I struggle to grasp some air and get to safety I could notice that I was able to moved from one position to another. I was never happy with my father for doing that though, wasn’t funny at all, but as I grow older I realized that it was how they teach children to swim in my town. Subconsciously I could make moves in the water, I could swim. But then I noticed my kid brother and most kids around me could swim faster than I am, they were more flexible. But this didn’t really give me much concern, Everytime we go to swim I just stay and enjoy myself were the water wasn’t much, while they explore the river and reach out to more deeper areas.
This very interesting day we went out to swim and as usual they all started their swimming adventure, but this time, I decided to join them n also prove to myself that I can actually swim very well too. I followed them as we swam over yonder (the other side of the shores). I was always behind sha, I wasn’t fast, but who cares, I didn’t mind taking it slow and steady. Coming back omo臘. I was getting tired, but I struggled and continued, I kept going untill, close to the shores, I was like lemme just stand and get some rest, believing that were I was wasn’t so deep. As I stood….OMG I went down, if you’re good at swimming, you can relate, it happened so fast and I was like David I’m drowning , No way!!! As I struggled and looked out, I saw that they’ll just watching as I struggled.
At this point… It felt like I wasn’t the one that first swam to the other side of the shores梁梁… It was so hard, I was drowning, I could see some of the other kids laughing while some were just looking, but on my brothers face I could see fear. The more I struggle, the more, the whole process gets harder. Fortunately, from afar I saw an adult coming towards the shores I felt some kinda relief at this point, but immediately he noticed what was happening to me, I can never forget, what I heard from him was…. “Good for you, all these kids that won’t stay at a place”, that statement immediately, gave me strength and brought out all my hidden swimming skills. I swam like a very big fish… To the shores, as my friends who became scared and furious during my struggle started hailing me, the man was just moping at me speechless, I guess he was surprised how and were I got that strength.
From that day, I could also swim faster and very well. That was how I learnt how to swim♂️. But then I learnt a very big lesson that day, and that guided me through life… I don’t follow anyone to do what they do, even though it looks so easy, I just do my thing… I am a proper definition of a one man squad, I learn how to do alot of things growing up, but I don’t ever try to prove myself cox everyother person can do what I know how to do. Most times I just choose to act dumb. Also from that day, I don’t trust anyone. There’s nothing I believe in this world apart from myself.
Moral Lesson: If you’re struggling through life no one will ever come to save you. Some will just watch and wish you survive, some will laugh at you, while some will only talk about your wrongs and weakness, analysing every possible reasons why you should suffer. Las las, All you got is you. I can’t deny the fact that Ive been helped by folks and I find help everyday from the supernatural but then, I am my only Savior. Also most times challenges in life only want to teach you to know your hidden strengths and potentials. If you are a positive person, you can get motivated by good and bad people. There’s this saying; “Your Love makes me stronger and your hate makes me unstoppable”. Which ever ways, just keep going
Anyways that’s a true event of my life. How I learnt to swim
God bless you if you were able to read to the end.
